The perpetual trickster somehow didn't predict the backlash that would be born out of his April 1st prank.

After his pregnancy-based April Fools' joke was widely ridiculed, Justin Bieber posted an apology to Instagram on Tuesday.

In his apology, Bieber professes that he is "a prankster" and that he "didn't at all mean to be insensitive to people who can't have children." The singer used an anecdote about shoving cake in his little sister's face in order to drive the plea home, saying he was "expecting her to laugh but she cried."

It all started when Bieber enlisted his wife Hailey to help him prank the world on April Fools' day. The first Instagram post featured a generic ultrasound, prompting his 107 million followers to go into an expected frenzy. He followed it with a highly staged photo of Hailey in a hospital-like room, complete with two doctors.

Finally, the reveal came when he posted the same ultrasound picture, but this time it featured a dog instead of a fetus. The caption read, "Wait omg is that a,,, APRIL FOOLS."

The apology came after an onslaught of backlash on social media. "Some might have laughed but some were offended .. I think With pranks u sometimes have to roll that dice," Bieber writes towards the end of his apology post.

If this Instagram caption is any indicator, we can rest assured that Mr. Bieber is #truly #sorry for the gag.
