'Indiana Jones 5' will hit theaters a year later than expected
Hold on to your hats -- or give them some time, because the fifth untitled Indiana Jonesmovie will be strolling into theaters in 2020. That's one year later than planned -- it's an election year, if you can even imagine such a thing.
SEE ALSO:The end is near for cinema. Go to the movies while there's still timeThe latest Indiana Jonesproject with Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford was originally slated for July 19, 2019, but is now scheduled for July 10, 2020 (Jon Favreau's The Lion King took over the 2019 date). On the film's release date, Ford will be just shy of his 78th birthday.
Little is known yet about the fifth installment in the series besides Ford's return (Shia LaBeouf is mysteriously absent from any press releases thus far). Based on that and The Force Awakensand the upcoming Blade Runnersequel, there's a solid theory out there that the curmudgeonly actor is killing off his most iconic characters.
Because nostalgia is king, expect Indiana Jones 5to pay homage to the originals and to Spielberg and Ford's collaboration history. Personally I'm still holding out for justice for Short Round and probably will be until I die.
